Had a great day in Cesis as we opened up the Senior Adult Conference. I had a chance to speak twice today. The work in this area of Latvia is very difficult. The Senior Adults are especially difficult to reach. You have to remember that until 1991 the Soviets controlled this country. Although the Soviets allowed the people to go to church, they didn't want them to like it. There were Soviet informants in every church. If a person was caught smiling in church they could lose their job the next day. If a person sang with too much gusto they could have their drivers liscence taken away.
Those days are still with them in their minds ... It is hard here ...
